Application of MicroGlass Protectant
Every pool we install comes with MicroGlass, a protectant spray that extends the life of your pool, saving it from discoloration, etching, cracking, and more. Since it dries quickly, you can use your pool right away – on the same day!
MicroGlass is a colloidal silica-based product (liquid form) that penetrates the surface matrix of pool plaster or pebble finishes, reacting chemically to harden the surface and reduce porosity.
Benefits of MicroGlass
Hardens Surface
- Increases density and durability
- Reduces erosion and scaling
Decreases Porosity
- Limits water absorption
- Helps resist staining and chemical attack
Improves Finish Appearance
- Enhances luster and uniformity
- Reduces mottling (blotchy color appearance)
Extends Lifespan
- Slows down wear-and-tear
- Minimizes plaster dust during startup
When & How it’s Applied
- Timing: After plastering and during the startup phase (usually within the first week)
- Method: Sprayed or poured directly onto the surface, then left to soak and react
- Compatibility: Works on new and existing plaster, quartz, or pebble finishes
Things to Keep in Mind
- It’s not a sealant—it doesn’t form a film, but modifies the material from within
- Works best as part of a proper startup and maintenance routine
- Professional application is recommended to ensure even coverage
